Sheckler won. His cab flip over the bump was a highlight. So were his
flawless rail tricks. Chances are for most of you will not continue to
read this after that sentence. P-Rod got second if that helps matters.
Lutzka got third.

Shocking results, huh?

Those
guys never do well in contests. Let's give them a round of applause for
breaking out of their shells and actually placing for once. It's got to
be real tough for those guys, being contest guys and going to all the
big events and never getting over the hump. Never even coming close.
Always placing dead last. I picture them spending a lot of money on
therapy to get over it. It's not easy being a consummate loser. I
should know. Contests are boring. It's always the same guys, over and
over that win; it gets old. It's like you can guess who will be top
three without ever even tuning in: third place Peter Hewitt, second
place Brian Wenning, first place Rob Welsh. So in all seriousness, I
want to take a second to congratulate Paul, Greg and Ryan for exceeding
any potential any of us ever thought they had and thanks to X Games for
giving the underdogs a chance to be winners, if only for this one time.
