The Ultimate Boarder competition, an tri-event contest to find the best board sport athlete, came to a close Saturday with its third and final stage, skateboarding. When all the 45 athletes were done doing their thing, skateboarder Chad Shetler topped the podium followed by Aaron Astorga and Chris Kays.

But the real question is who would win the overall contest, which took combined results from the snowboarding and Surfing stages. Turns out skateboarder Astorga took the top prize of $30K thanks to his strong finish after taking 17th in snow and 8th in surfing. Previous overall leader, Shayne Pospisil, was knocked all the way to 5th after finishing in 27th in the skate comp.

Second place and $10K went to pro snowboarder Todd Richards, who won the first stage, places 26th in surf and 7th in skate. Third went to Kiwi skater Kristian Philipp who had a fourth place finish in skate, 7th in snow and 23rd in surf. He won $5K.
