Opening Day – Toe Jam Stop #1
50 Riders Compete On Wakeskating’s Biggest Stage

The Toe Jam Wakeskate Tour kicked off today at The Projects outside of Orlando, Florida with 50 riders competing for a qualification into the next two days of riding at the Rockstar Rail Jam.
Heats were competitive with only two riders advancing out each heat (eight heats of six riders). The Sea-Doo Wake Edition delivered a solid pull with its ballast system and consistent speeds, with Pat Panakos at the helm. In one of the most exciting heats, Danny Hampson landed a boardslide bigger spin off the Sea-Doo incline rail, capping off the best run of the day. Another standout move
was a varial heelflip by Gib Gibbons. Overall, this group of riders proved that the
sport is at an all-time high. Event founder, Scott Byerly said, “Today was just a
taste of what’s to come this weekend.”

After it's first nationwide tour in 2007, the Toe Jam is going international this season, to feature the world’s best wakeskaters competing for the most coveted titles in the sport. All photos Walt Ostarly.
Founded by Scott Byerly, the Toe Jam is designed to challenge wakeskaters in four categories including rails, wake riding, cable park, and winch-towed sessions. The newest addition to the tour will be in Wasaga Beach, Canada, at the former site of Wakestock. This stop and two others will give all riders a chance to qualify for the fouth stop (the main event), the Byerly Toe Jam in Orlando this September.
