More than 200 million Americans own cell phones. They’ve gone from luxury items to necessities in only 10 years. Cell phones send electromagnetic energy that can penetrate 3” into the brain. Some health experts think
that cell phones cause brain tumors and leukemia, promote sterility and increase the risk of ear cancer. Danish researchers, in a study of nearly 500,000 people who used cell phones for at least 10 years, found that cell phones didn’t increase the risk of cancer. Other studies found that cell phones aren’t completely safe. Hungarian scientists showed that men who carried cell phones in their pocket or waist holster cut their sperm count by nearly 30 percent. British researchers found that most cell phones harbor a dangerous array of bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus (staph), which can cause serious illnesses ranging from skin diseases to meningitis. You can make cell phones safer by storing them in a bag and cleaning them regularly. (Journal National Cancer Institute, 98: 1707-1713, 2006)
