Creatine builds muscle tissue, but it may also be good for the brain.
It increases an important cell energy chemical called creatine phosphate and improves the function of the mitochondria— the energy centers of the cells. Yale University researchers found that creatine supplementation (20 grams per day for seven days) improved energy metabolism in the brain. Creatine monohydrate might help protect the brain from metabolic injuries by increasing its energy supply and metabolic capacity. It may also prevent cognitive decline related to mental fatigue.
